Animoto in the classroom

Animoto is a really neat website for creating photo stories either for personal use or for a class project.  I was recently using animoto for a project in a class that I am taking.  Photo stories can be very educational and provide an interesting backdrop for learning.  The elements behind a photo story could definitely cross curricular areas.  Language arts methods of story development along with my own Social Studies content could allow students to create powerful methods to engage in the content area.  This type of learning could lead to interesting collaboration between disciplines.  On my own photo story I spent some time organizing the elements around a theme so that my photos and music seemed to work together to tell a story.

Students interested in creating a photo story about a subject in my class can come in after school and we will talk about what you need to do.  A photo story project will be extra credit beyond the current coursework.  Students can use other programs besides animoto if needed.

  1. If any students want help or have a free block, I'd be very willing to help them as well. Video is a great way to not only get across an idea, but to pass on a feeling as well!
